Why can't I log into my RMC Google account? Every time I try, the browser takes me to my personal Google account.

Answer

Many people on our campus have personal Google/Gmail accounts before they come to RMC. While at RMC you have access to a college provided Google account; this is what you can use to store large files and share them in Canvas. If you're having problems submitting/uploading it is probably because you're still signed into your personal Google account. There are two ways to remedy this:

  • Add your RMC Google account to your browser.
    1. Navigate to Google.com
    2. In the farthest upper right corner you will see that you're signed in with your personal account.
    3. Click on the round image/button and select "Add another account"
    4. Follow the steps by using your name @go.rmc.edu or @rmc.edu account. Once completed, you can easily switch between accounts.

  • Use another browser other than your current one. If you're using a Mac, try downloading Chrome or Firefox. This will allow you to stay signed into your personal Google account in Safari.
  • Conversely you can continue using your current browser, but open a private or incognito window. This will forget you are signed in to another account, and when you close the window, will forget you ever were:
    1. If you're using Safari, go to File > New Private Window
    2. If you're using Chrome, click on the three dots in the upper right corner and select "New incognito window"
    3. If you're using Firefox, click on the three lines in the upper right corner and select "New Private Window"
