How do I place a hold on a book or DVD?

How can you get a print book or one of our DVDs if you don't want to spend a lot of time browsing in the Library building?

Answer

First off, here's a quick video on how to request a physical item that's in the library.

The steps to place a hold are as follows:

  1. Holds are based on finding the item(s) in our library catalog, so use the main search box on our home page. Or, you can use the advanced search link as well.
  2. Items that can have holds places show up as McGraw-Page Library DVD, or McGraw-Page Library Circulating Books:
    Hold item DVD
    Hold item book
  3. When you click on the item, the screen will shift to show you more details of the item. The "Place Hold" button will be under the "Check Availability" section:
    Hold button screen
  4. Once you click the Place Hold button, you'll be asked to sign in with your R-MC credentials. If the item you want to hold is a single item, you simply need to click "Submit". If your item is multiple volumes, and you'd like a specific number of them, click the first drop-down labeled "I need *", and select your desired volumes. Then click "Submit".
  5. You will receive an email with instructions on how to pick up your item when your hold is processed and available. **Please do not come to the library until you receive the notification**
